‘You’ve been ASBO’d certificate’ is a stylish award that we want youth workers, teachers, parents, community leaders and any other adults to present to young people who they think merit this symbol to say that they are Alright Sensational Beautiful...[more]
FYT is thrilled to offer a range of resources that we believe will help youth workers in their responsibility to help young people develop their own spirituality. In relation to this responsibility I would want to argue that youth work should be doing at least 3 key tasks:
1. Accompanying young people in OUR spiritual development - this is learner - learner and respects the fact that we are all 'children of the universe'
2. Helping young people explore some of the tools for developing their own evolving spirituality
3. Ensuring that spirituality is not confused with differing faith positions/perspectives - as a Christian I would say this is about promoting 'shalom' - we live in troubled times religiously (and some would argue we always have!!) what we don't need is entrenched views - what we do need is the promotion of tolerant respectful attitudes across faith groups that are not ashamed of their own personal heritage and beliefs but which are not militant in insisting their 'truth'!
Please check out our 'resources' page for tools that we hope will help with these tasks. I particularly commend 'Glimpses' to you - we have received so much positive feed back about it and are fast running out of stock!

We are a Christian network dedicated to mission with young people at risk. We are directly involved in youth work through a wide range of projects, agencies, churches and individuals. We are also very active in training youth workers, producing resources, campaigning with and for young people and researching youth work related themes. We hope that you find this web site a valuable tool and we always value any feedback on this or any aspect of our work.
